AOL is sending twelve lucky winners to the World Series of Poker 2007 in Las Vegas this year. We’re excited to have such fine players represent our team. AOL games are running a series of winner interviews of our top players. Our poker studs beat out tens of thousands of other players to get a shot at the World Series of Poker Championship. AOL games appreciates all kinds of talent. Young and old are joing our WSOP team. Dean comes to us with chance to change his fortunes.

Dean Suedmeier you are under the AOL games World Series of Poker spotlight

Dean, what is your occupation?
Assistant Manager at McDonald's for now, but looking for something different.

Tell us about your family and who will be accompanying you to the WSOP?
I live with my wife Karen and she will be coming with me to Las Vegas.

What is it about poker that so engrossing for you?
I've always been a math geek, so all the numbers that are involved really keep me interested

Is there any advice you would give to the online poker playing public?
This was my first online poker tournament, so i really don't have enough experience to give advice.

Do you watch poker on TV or read about it?
When I was in high school I used to watch it all the time. Now only occasionally.

Do you have a "lucky" items?
Just me.

If you win a huge prize, what will you do with the money?
I guess it depends on how huge of a prize I won?

What did you do when you won your online tournament and found out you'd be going to play in the live WSOP?
Tried to calm down.

Do you play other games on AOL?
No.

Are you making any special preparations for the WSOP?
Just playing more poker, and reading up on odds and probabilities.

What is your strategy for playing at the live WSOP?
Make the top 10 percent of all players.

Dean Suedmeier played July 6 and was eliminated from the tournament. We caught up with him right after he left the tournament room.

What was it like to play in the Main Event at the World Series of Poker?
Fun. Nerveracking until won first hand, then calmed down and then started having lots of fun. I used to watch it on TV religiously, like 18 hours a day. They kept announcing the poker celebrities, but I didn’t see any

Did you have any big hands where you won a lot of money?
I ended up going all in like 8 times. My biggest was probably about 25 thousand.

What was your last hand?
Pocket aces, that got beat by four 7’s. I ended up with a full house aces over 7’s, the guy beat me with 4 of a kind of 7’s.

Could you have done anything differently?
Probably not, I thought I played good.
